Welsh rarebit in Compton?

Thirteen riders left Woodhatch heading for Compton (and the famous Welsh Rarebit).

Mike Conway turned off at Dunsfold before we lost Paul and Chris off the front (lesson: if you ride off the front and miss the turn, you are on your own!). Chris managed to rejoin us a few miles down the road but we did not see Paul again that day. Eleven hungry riders turned up at Watts Tea Room to find a full car park and a long queue waiting to give their orders. After a quick confab, we headed for the garden centre at Clandon. After climbing the Hog’s Back, we took the cycle path into the centre of Guildford where Marie decided to return to Balham by train; Tracy joined her. After refreshment, we only climbed two major hills before reaching Reigate having completed 63 miles, again in the autumn sun (our luck with the weather must run out soon!).

Next Week: Graham will lead a ride to Isfield, where we indulge in nostalgia for steam trains in the platform café on the Lavender Line.
