Cycling...Plus Intermediates triumph

I know, I know, hands up, it was to be a social ride, let the fast guys go, 15 mph, a pint of plain and pleasant banter was promised afterwards. In the end, all that was social about our jaunt was a child infested tea stop at Tulleys Farm but there were mitigating circumstances.

1. Hicksters Harriers i.e. the Fast riders turned up in their Redhill finery.

2. Robin Wilmott of the respected Cycling-Plus Magazine was there (Thanks Maria) to take shots of our gathering and outing. We all wanted to dance those pedals.

3. The fast intermediates have come a long way in terms of character and fitness. They were in the mood and chomping at the bit. (Imperial Commander Chris Hall should take a bow for all the rides he led last Summer, thanks Chris)

So we went for it like newborn calves put into a field for the first time and kept up with the fast guys to great aplomb. Well done chaps.

42 miles @ 17mph. Early grousing turned into ending glee. So it is time for some of the lads to step up to the plate and try out Gavin’s fast gang. You know who you are.

Shoot for the moon, and if you miss, you’ll only end up in the stars.

Post note – If there is any consolation, I helped save you beer money today, cycling time today and most importantly, bi-lateral relations with your respective War Departments. See you all fine people next week. Cheers via Wi-Fi from the Farmhouse Pub in Horley.
