If only it had remained frozen...
My early morning ride to the start of the early morning ride to the start of the main ride (if you follow) didn't bode well. It had rained for an hour or so overnight, turning what was still quite a bit of snow into very heavy mush - and nigh-on unrideable!
But we off-roaders persevere. Ten perseverers turned up at Ryka's for what turned into a very sociable, short ride with a long tea stop at Bocketts. Our route took us up past Westhumble Station on road (on ice-rink would be a better description), then off-road down to Bocketts. Several hours later we left the dry, warm surroundings laden with mince pies and other seasonal treats for the long (1.5 mile) trek along the A3 cycle path back to the start.
Fun, thawing and an early finish that allowed riders to get home early or in the case of some, go up Box Hill! (see other story)
