Redhill Hippos
The decision to ride the South Park route to Godstone from Outwood was the right one, not too much mud and muck. The twelve riders set a good pace and arrived at Godstone via Tilburstow Hill with time to spare, so a ride uphill towards Gravelly Hill was in order, my intention to take a left turn half way up was not anticipated by an enthusiastic group off the front so a slight detour to the top of the hill was added for some.
Back down the hill to Godstone's Knight centre for tea, cakes and greetings from late arrival D.Cullern ( said he had left his cycling shoes at home, should get up earlier) We decided to give the track to Rabies Heath Road a miss as sand, water and chains don't mix and settled for the other route North of the A25 to Bletchingly, then to Cucksey's farm where our worst fears were realised on encountering the expected mud and muck ( two or three brave souls managed to ride through, congrats to them) eighteen miles or so were covered.
