Tea for ten at Tea Pot Island

A steady pace assisted by a westerly wind took us through Godstone and to the bottom of Titsey hill where a welcome right turn along the Pilgims Way led almost to Wrotham and then south to Ightham, Crouch, East Peckham and Laddingford to arrive after 40 miles at the Tea Pot cafe on the island between the Medway flood barriers where the canoeists were enjoying the water flowing over the weir. Unfortunately, the heavy rains of recent days and weeks meant many of the smaller lanes were still very wet and strewn with gravel and other debris, this resulted in 2 punctures but we faired far better than the VC Londres, who on similar roads, managed to have 9 punctures between 12 riders, you don't needs tacks in Kent! Refreshments, including the renowned bread pudding, were enjoyed sitting outside by the river and photos taken with the tea pot before an uneventful return ride through Hadlow, Hildenborough and Edenbridge for a total of 75 miles without any rain.
