Perfectly Pitched

'In spite of the pre-ride ‘health warning’ (or perhaps because of it) 17 pitched up at Walking Bottom car park for some self-inflicted punishment on Pitch Hill.

With glorious clear blue skies overhead and not a breath of breeze to cool us down, we retreated under the welcome shade of the trees to tackle the roots, ruts, bomb-holes and drop-offs, including Secret Santa, Lady’s Legs (Clawhammer), Supernova and more, whose names escape me!  14 miles of hard grind, swooping switchbacks and heart-stopping drop-offs in the energy-sapping heat, before limping back to Peaslake for tea and sausage plait.... ‘more, more’ some cried, (while others just cried...) so, on we went (the remaining Magnificent 7) for a further beasting on Holmbury Hill, checking out the newly restored Yoghurt Pots, squeezing in another bit of fine singletrack, and finishing down BKB, to add a further 5 miles to the tally.

Thanks to navigation consultant Graham for ‘helping’ with the nav.... from the front (!).... and to Fran for sweeping up the blood (mainly Aled's) and broken bodies at the back.'
