Rouleurs roll on

Riders as diverse as Jill M from the G2s through to Cat - one of our TT elite and a regular local QOM. From former Chair Graham Haysom on his comeback tour in his 70s to Andrew W from the G5s. And what a great day it was. Despite the threat of 'heavy rain' according to the BBC weather, we only saw a few spots and one 2 minute shower.

Fiona (once a G2 herself and these days a force so powerful on a bike it's astonishing)  set off in a group comprising myself, septuagenerian powerhouse Stuart and Chris S. We made rapid progress to Smallfield when Fiona punctured. With characteristic team spirit, she urged us to carry on but fortunately, found a fellow G5 in Andrew to fix the flat and continue to drop pretty much everyone en route!

The course is a collection of the best lanes we frequent many weekends plus the not-often-tried climb past Chartwell before swooping down past Dairy Lane.

Despite the shower it then warmed. Warm and humid. And tiring... the post-Hever section was very rolling and more sapping than most of us remembered but within 4 hours pretty much everyone was back at base and reflecting on a lovely morning in the saddle.

Impressive rides from everyone... Most notably Stuart who I believe beat the gold standard for a 30 year old at the age of 70.

That's the RCC spirit if ever I saw it!
