Impeccable maiden voyage

We headed a simple route to Tanhouse where no fewer than 60 cyclists must have been there or arrived during our short stay. Clearly Addiscombe, without a tea room in Charlwood have migrated to the accommodating Tanhouse welcome.

Anyway, my newcomers were flanked by experienced RCC faithfuls, Andy G and James... but they did not need shepherding of any sort. Impeccable road positioning, communication and fitness. Chatting with Steven, it turns out he's a 40 mile a day cycle commuter (hence the fitness)... and a triathlete... and finished 27th in the Brompton World Championships last year. But hadn't really joined a club before.

Very simple message: you'd be welcome with us.

The ride was held in beautiful conditions, without incident at a 15.6mph average with just about 900ft of ascent. Thank you to all and to Andy for his usual world-class backmarking.
