The only thing nicer than discovering a welcome new tea stop is to find one being run by an RCC member. In this case, Caroline whose new business started just last week. She had set herself up at the top of Leith Hill where 100s of London 100 'tryer-outers' we're passing by and testing their legs on the highest climb in the South East.

And among this group were me, Dave T and Michelle L. I think it was the mention of lots of hills that put others off but the three of us had an excellent training ride anyway.

Out to Dorking via Punchbowl Lane, up the steep Chapel Lane 20%er, onwards to East Horsely and East Clandon before the ascent of Newlands Corner.

On the way down, Michelle remarked that in last year's London 100 she hadn't seen any of the view. Impeded by the hail no doubt.

On this ride, it was glorious warm and sunny. We zoomed down to Gomshall, up to Holmbury St Mary and back down to Forest Green before heading up Leith Hill and discovering Caroline. Her energy bars are something else! We were even joined by John Mc's G4s after 10 minutes.

Sustenance happily received we descended to the A25 through Westcott and on to Box Hill where we met up with John's crew again at the top and rearranged groups to head back to the Drome.

A great ride from both Dave and Michelle given the amount of climbing. Average nearly 15.6mph with nearly 4000ft of climbing.
