Max-imum Power on 16th Birthday

After the deluge during the day, the evening cleared into a warm, still and sunny affair so it was a shame to see only seven riders turn out for the 7th TT of the RCC summer series. Those who did witnessed something special from the emerging talent of the club.

Of the seven on show, we welcomed Danny York from Crawley Wheelers, Anthony Vance and Andy Rowe from outside the club, the rest were RCC riders including two young uns, Sevi Webb and Max Mansell-Rowe. On the night, no Matt Peel to tear up the course... and club TT supremo Chris Herbert arrived just in time but chose to support from the sidelines. So there was everything to play for.

The fastest rider on the night was Danny from Crawley Wheelers with a 21:26. However, the Redhill scratch and handicap on the night were both won by Max Mansell-Rowe on his 16th birthday. Sporting a pair of tri bars this week, Max tore up the course in an astonishing 21:53 looking as smooth as you like as he accelerated to the finish line.

Even Chris from the sidelines had that 'I'd better do some work or one day soon he might steal my records' look!

Next rider was TT sec, Will Henton, sneaking into the sub-22 camp for the first time this season with a 21:59 followed by Jonny Bradbourne taking a chunky 55 seconds off his handicap with 22:32. Next up, Anthony Vance with 23:05. Then, Adrian's son Sevi taking 10 seconds off his handicap while experimenting with a new set-up and finally Andy Rowe (Max's dad who was noble enough to act as his son's minute man and see the young man scorch by!) with 23:35.

Thanks on the night to Will who did the signage and Andrew Murray making his debut as timekeeper.

NEXT WEEK, THERE IS NO WEDNESDAY TT DUE TO THE INTERCLUB COMPETITON WITH ADDISCOMBE ON TUESDAY 21st.
