"Today's ride in perfect sunny conditions welcomed South African Jeff (our photographer) to the club for his first ride out with the RCC together with several other slightly more usual faces. A Westcott start took in the usual Rookery 'warm up' before heading up to play in the bomb holes, trenches and rhododendrons of Leith. Some new single track took us down to Friday St - and a first 'tea and cake' break. Full of energy, a traverse up, across and down 'Soul Mining' took us to the bottom of Holmbury before gravity was defied back up to 'Yogurt Pots' and the now famous 'Sting'. A wander around Holmebury fuelled our cheese straw desires, and so it was 'Barry' and Peaslake for our second picnic-in-the-sun moment, before Abinger and home.
