7 of us set off from the tea hut car park heading south over the racecourse. There was an air of trepidation as the weather forecast looked pretty awful and all were suitably clad in assorted colours of goretex jackets.
We climbed up Ebbisham Lane and down the Pony club descent, under the motorway and up through Headley onto Mickleham Downs via Total Recall.
I had planned to climb up onto Ranmore via Westhumble but as it was damp and slippery under wheel we took the better option of the Denbies Land Rover track. No one complained about that. After some more downs and ups we got to Polesden Lacey NT house and cafe where there were lashings of tea and cake to fuel the ride back.
Refuelled with tea and cake, we returned via Fetcham Downs, and a climb up Little Switzerland. No one complained about that (well not out loud). Fran and Rob peeled off after Boxhill village and the rest of us returned to the Downs via (not very) Secret Singletrack and Headley village.
About 40km, 820m of ascent and not much of the promised rain. Lots of fallen leaves, autumn's def here now.
