RCC South Wales MTB Trip February 24_25_26 2017

View this email in your browser

Dear All,
The first Redhill Cycling Club MTB trip in 2017 will be to Afan Forest Park and Bike Park Wales in South Wales on the weekend of February 24th to 26th. It will include an optional day at Bike Park Wales on Friday, Feb 24th followed by Saturday and part of Sunday at Afan.

You will need to book your own accommodation if you are staying near Bike Park Wales on Thursday 23rd Feb.

You will need to book your uplift at Bike Park Wales and I would recommend doing this sooner rather than later since this is often filled up a month or two in advance.

Currently, there is accommodation available for 29 people  at the Afan Lodge but this can change very quickly if another group makes a reservation so I would like to get this booked up well before Christmas. I will book accommodation and evening meals at Afan Lodge.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested and I’ll get back in touch with details of costs, deposits etc. for Afan Lodge

I’ve included some information below on the accommodation and the type of riding available.

Best Regards,

Gwyn Williams

The Riding
Bike Park Wales
A mix of all weather roller coaster trails and  natural singletrack. Uplift is on a fleet of mini buses and specially designed bike trailers to transport you to the top of the hill right next to the start of the trails.  There are some new trails since our last visit and now you can choose from two green, nine blue, seven red, nine black and two pro line trails which take you back to the bottom of the mountain in time to catch the next lift up.

Uplift is £32 (including £7 park entry fee) for a whole day or, depending on availability (riders with a day pass will always take priority) you may be able to fill spaces on the uplift adhoc on a single trip basis. You can buy cards from the reception desk that will allow you 1-5 rides at a charge of £4 per ride. Alternatively you can pay the driver £5 cash per ride. You can book uplift on the web site and I would recommend doing this well ahead of the weekend because it does fill up very quickly.
It is possible to ride up the mountain to the start of the trails if you prefer. You will still need to pay the £7 park entry fee.

Afan Forest Park
“World class" mountain bike excitement. Wicked trails built in and across dramatic landscapes await you.
Afan Forest Park is home to 5 world class trails, the ‘Penhydd’, ‘Y Wal’, ‘Skyline’, ‘White’s Level’ and 'W²', boasting over 100 km of singletrack trails.  There's also the Afan Bike Park (launched in 2013) allowing riders to improve their riding skill and have hours of winding, swerving fun with berms and jumps.
