Heading out from Dorking, you’ll be straight out onto the North Downs Way as you head out under the shadow of Box Hill and surrounding looming road climbs, before venturing out into the Surrey countryside. You’ll follow neat trails and hillside bridleways as you head out towards Abinger Common, then through woodland to Holmbury St Mary and Peaslake. Moving on from the first feed station of the day, which waits on the southern-most tip of the sprawling course, the real climbing and descending action of the day unfolds.

A quick and long downhill trail waits just after the turn-off before Farley Green – but downhill means you’ll need to climb once out of the village of Shere. Then it’s the turn of the off-road sections of the hallowed Surrey Hills climbs – moving around Whitedowns and Ranmore Common, then followed by a mostly downhill last few miles to the finish line. There’s much to see and much to enjoy in this technical and very rewarding off-road Surrey sportive.
